measured from -1 to 1. A correlation can be positive, negative or no correlation. Closer the number, stronger the correlation.
Scattergram
Graph that shows correlation between two sets of data (co-variables) by plotting points to rep each pair of scores. Indicates degree and direction correlation between co-variables, one of which indicated on x-axis and other on y-axis.
Non experimental methods to measure strong relationship between multiple variables (2 or more), no claim of cause and affect relationship.
AO3
+Used to research sensitive/unethical, no deliberate manipulation of variables.
+Useful as preliminary research tech, allow research to ID link that can be further investigated through more controlled results.
-Not ID cause and effect, might be third variable present that influences one of co-variables that’s not been considered
Positive- As one Variable inc the other V increases e.g. height and shoe size
Negative- As one V inc the other dec e.g. GCSE grades and amount of times absent.
Zero- Study finds no relation between V. e.g. amount of rain fall in Wales and number people read Lord of the Rings
