Greenhouse gases

• Gas molecules in the earth's atmosphere that have three or more atoms are called greenhouse gases
• These gases absorb heat energy in the form of infrared rays
• Water vapour (H2O), Carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), surface ozone (O3), nitrous oxide (N20)
• Surface ozone is a pollutant that occurs near the earth's surface. It is composed of substances such as nitrogen dioxide and carbon dioxide. It is not released directly into the atmosphere, but is one of the main components of photochemical smog
