John’s secure to power

• John agreed to give some Angevin lands to Philip, King of France
• John agreed to do homage for Philip’s continental lands and pay £13,500 for inheritance of land
• Philip dropped his support for Arthur’s claim to the throne
• In 1200, when Philip and John went to war with each other, Arthur joined Philip- breaking his feudal earth
• Arthur was captured at Mirebeau - John ordered him be castrated and blinded but Arthur’s gaolers would not - Arthur was stabbed to death by someone and his body dumped in the River Seine
