Pacemaker of the heart

• Your resting heart rate is controlled by a group of cells in the right atrium called a pacemaker
• The cells produce a small electric impulse causing the muscle cells to contract
• An Artificial Pacemaker can be used to simulate the function of a normal pacemaker
• The artificial pacemaker is placed under the skin and has a wire going into the heart creating an electric current
