animal adaptations

Cards (3)

  • how are animals in cold climates adapted to survive?
the smaller their SA to volume ratio is, the easier it is to reduce the transfer of energy to the environment, minimising cooling.
  • how are animals adapted to camouflage?
this is a structural adaptation by predators and prey. coat colours change as a result of the seasons changing e.g. arctic foxes
  • how are animals adapted to survive in dry climates?
adapted kidney function so that they can produce concentrated urine so that they need to drink less water and can get water from the food they eat.
many desert animals are small with large SA to volume ratios they have large thin ears to help transfer energy to the surroundings, cooling them down
