Persuasive Essay
- Is any piece of academic writing where you use reason and logic to show that your point of view is more legitemate than any other.
General Tips in writing a persuasive essay
Set your position straight from the beginning
and
maintain it throughout the paper.
Always base your paper on facts and factual evidences only.
Build your arguments in progression.
From least to most important ones.
Assume your reader does not know anything about the topic.
Disprove the opposing claim.
Search for information that will refute the opposing positions.
State specific, relevant, and realistic examples that can make your position stronger.
Remember the three main elements of persuasive writing.
Logos
- The appeal to reason and logic.

- You express it by using facts presented in a logical manner.
Ethos
- The appeal to ethics.
Ethos
- You must convince your reader that you're right from an ethical point of view.
Pathos
- The appeal to emotion.
Pathos
- You have to awaken the reader's sympathy.

- Arouse any kind of emotion.
Your persuasive essay should achieve the perfect balance between
logos, ethos, and pathos.

- This is where you state your facts and prove your thesis with arguments.

- Replaces the words and phrases with synonyms.

- Rearranges words to sentences to create new sentences.
Realize
- Some words or phrases cannot be changed, replaced. But you can present them differently in your paraphrase.
Recheck
- Make sure your paraphrase conveys the same meaning as the original text.
Revising
- You re-look at the parts of your essay and make sure those parts are strong and will work together to make a coherent whole.
Revising
- It includes adding, cutting, moving, or changing information.
Editing
- In this stage, you check your text to make sure that there are no errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Publishing
- The last stage of writing process where you share your essay to your readers.
