  • Persuasive Essay - Also known as Argumentative Essay.
  • Persuasive Essay - Is any piece of academic writing where you use reason and logic to show that your point of view is more legitemate than any other.
  • General Tips in writing a persuasive essay
    • Set your position straight from the beginning and maintain it throughout the paper.
    • Always base your paper on facts and factual evidences only.
    • Build your arguments in progression. From least to most important ones.
    • Assume your reader does not know anything about the topic.
    • Disprove the opposing claim. Search for information that will refute the opposing positions.
    • State specific, relevant, and realistic examples that can make your position stronger.
    • Remember the three main elements of persuasive writing.
  • Logos - The appeal to reason and logic.
  • Logos - You express it by using facts presented in a logical manner.
  • Ethos - The appeal to ethics.
  • Ethos - You must convince your reader that you're right from an ethical point of view.
  • Pathos - The appeal to emotion.
  • Pathos - You have to awaken the reader's sympathy.
  • Pathos - Arouse any kind of emotion.
  • Your persuasive essay should achieve the perfect balance between logos, ethos, and pathos.

  • Introduction - This is the part where you introduce your topic and expose your thesis statement.
  • Body - This is where you state your facts and prove your thesis with arguments.
  • Body - This is where you disprove the arguments of your opponents.
  • Conclusion - This is where you'll bring all points down into a logical ending,
  • Introduction - Your goal is to attract the reader's attention.
  • Conclusion - Show exactly how your point of view is the right stance and invite your reader to take action.
  • Paraphrasing - Is putting something into your own words.

  • Reword - Replaces the words and phrases with synonyms.
  • Rearrange - Rearranges words to sentences to create new sentences.
  • Realize - Some words or phrases cannot be changed, replaced. But you can present them differently in your paraphrase.
  • Recheck - Make sure your paraphrase conveys the same meaning as the original text.
  • Revising - You re-look at the parts of your essay and make sure those parts are strong and will work together to make a coherent whole.
  • Revising - It includes adding, cutting, moving, or changing information.
  • Editing - In this stage, you check your text to make sure that there are no errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Publishing - The last stage of writing process where you share your essay to your readers.
