    -causes profit and the government having less involvement in education.

    -Lots of MATs in the UK, mostly ran by one person. Like running a company.
    -PRO: more control over education; CON: opt out of national curriculum.

    -privately owned companies = responsible for giving pupils resources & getting involved in education.
    -example: exam boards - Pearsons is an American company responsible for exam resources & certificates. It has been privatised and this company has control.

    -Ball: cola-isation - advertising in a discrete way early on in pupils lives.
    -profit over progress: short-term focus. Some subjects can be cut, disadvantages pupils.

    -causes: migration, technology changes, political changes.

    -global competition to attract students
    -tuition fees have risen, costs international students significantly more to go to uni in the UK
    -can stop international students from coming to the UK

    -became more multi-cultural & diverse - less ethnocentric
    -changed to prepare students for the workforce, increasing the skills pupils have e.g., computer science
    -more technology so companies outside of the UK (Apple, Pearsons) can make resources for the UK education system
    -increased risk, made changes to safeguarding

    -Ohmae: good for education, 'global citizen' - increases opportunities
    -neo-liberal: government play less of a role in education & funding
    -new fordist: increased competition in the work force, funding in education should increase
