  • The International Criminal Court is a court established by the United Nations for indicting and administering justice to people who commit war crimes.
  • AIMS
    • Assist national judiciaries in investigating and prosecuting the worst perpetrators of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and crimes of aggression (under the Rome Statute)
    • Deter would-be war criminals, bolster the rule of law, and offer justice to victims of atrocities.
    • Fostering cooperation on crimes of concern to the international community.
  • The ICC enforces international law and opens investigations into the perpetrators' crimes, though only acts when a state is unable or unwilling to try a case.
