starch testing leaves

• a control plant grown in light will have the green parts of the leaf turn black as the chlorophyll absorbed light and therefore photosynthesis occurred, so glucose is produced and stored as starch
• plants with a black card shape attached to some leaves will have the parts of the leaf covered with card stay yellow and the green parts exposed to the light turning black because the card blocked the light so photosynthesis did not occur so no glucose or starch can be produced there
• a plant grown inside a bag with soda lime will have the entire leaf remain yellow as the soda lime absorbed the carbon dioxide which meant photosynthesis could not occur so no glucose or starch can be produced
