titration is a neutralisation reation to find the concentration of an acid
in a titration we react
sodumhydroxide + sulfuric acid
we know the volume and concentration of the sodium hydroxide, we use the titration to find out the volume of sulfuric acid required to neutralise the alkali and using that find the concentration of the acid
when using a pipette let the liquid drain out for an accurate volume
using a conical flask reduces the risk of splashing
when reading the burette make sure its at eye level and you read the bottom of the miniscus
cm^3 to dm^3 you divide by 1000
concentration * volume = mole
mass divided by mr = moles
using Phenolphthalein observe a colour change of clear to pink
stages for a titration:
use a pipette to transfer 25cm^3 sodiumhydroxide into a conical flask
add drops of indicator such as Phenolphthalein
place the flask onto a white tile to observe the colour change
use a burette with sulfuric acid and add it into the conical flask drip by drip until you observe colour change
