    functions of communication
  • this refers to the use of communication to control human behavior, it ranges from simple requests to laws governing countries and large territories. can come in the form of commands or imperatives, rhetorical questions, and statements or declaratives. examples include: school policies, scolding, advice
    regulation/control
  • this refers to the communication to socialize or interact. basic forms include: invitations, greetings, appreciation, encouragement, and marriage proposals
    social interaction
  • this refers to a person using language to express desires, needs, wants, likes and dislikes, inclinations, choices, and aspirations. this has two types: intrinsic and extrinsic. its examples include making petitions, expressing a need, talking about preferences

    motivation
  • a type of motivation that is known as internal motivation. it is defined as the motivation to participate in an activity for its own sake (obligation) (just because u want to finish it for fuck of it)

    intrinsic motivation
  • a type of motivation that is also called external motivation. it is defined as the motivation to engage in an activity based on meeting an external goal, garnering praise and approval, winning a competition, or receiving an award or payment.

    extrinsic motivation
  • it refers to using communication in giving and getting information. its basic forms include using statements, rhetorical questions, questions, imperatives, and declaratives. its examples include telling stories, watching the news, and asking questions

  • this refers to the use of expressions such as love, fear, anger, joy, hope, etc. emotion. examples: yes!, oh no!, ouch!
