  freud's psychosexual stages
• this is the stage starting at 0 to 1 years old. children derive pleasure from oral activities, including sucking and tasting. they like to put things in their mouth


  oral stage
• this is the stage starting at 2 to 3 years old. this is where children begin potty training


  anal stage
• this is the stage starting at 3 to 6 years old. boys are attracted to their mother; girls are attached to their father


  phallic stage
• this starts at 6 years old to puberty. children spend more time and interact with same sex peers


  latency stage
• this stage is beyond puberty. individuals are attracted to opposite sex peers

• this was proposed by freud, stating that the mind is divided into three components: id, ego, and superego
