  • How do primaries work?
    Electorate can vote for a nominee to become president , helping states choose political party nominees for the general election .

    2) Less populated states or ones which are geographically spread .

    Open primaries - Voters dont have to be members of a political party to vote .
  • Are there issues with open primaries?
    Supreme court debates on the constitutionality of these , however they are deemed constitutional . It is said to increase participation , hopefully causing participation of the general election to increase , however it is possible for agents of the opposing party to intervene .
  • What are caucuses?
    Caucuses are held by political parties , grouped with others who will vote the same as you, speeches are given before the votes take place .
  • How do closed primaries work?
    Electors may only participate if they are members of a political party for a certain amount of time .
