  • Before the cell starts to divide, it duplicates its genetic info, each is an exact copy, then they pair up.
    In the first division, the pairs line up in the centre of the cell
    Then the pairs are pulled apart, so there’s only one copy of each chromosome, some from both parents, go into the new cell
    You get 4 gametes, each with a single set of chromosomes, Each gamete is genetically different as they get mixed.
