• Why is the UK still reliant on fossil fuels?

  -Large fossil fuel reserves still remain so we might as well use it up

  -Cheap to produce and import

  -Renewables are still unreliable and dont provide enough energy

  -We need energy security
• What is energy security?

  Energy security means to have a reliable, uninterrupted and affordable supply of energy
• An energy surplus is when a country produces more energy than its population needs- the extra energy can be exported
• Having less energy than required is called an energy deficit, this can lead to energy insecurity
