  • empowerment= supporting people to take control of their lives and futures

    important to help ensure meeting needs is the focus of care
  • empowerment:
    . individualised care~ tailored to meet specific needs
    . dignity + independence~ respecting the service user to boost self esteem
    . belief + culture~ must address specific needs of people from different backgrounds
  • risk assessment~ identifying and evaluating the possible consequences of hazards and the level of risk it will cause

    3. evaluate risk level 1-10
    4. identify ways to limit risk
    5. review measures taken to minimise risk
  • risk rating= likelihood x severity of the injury
  • it’s important to ensure hazardous waste is disposed of properly .
  • COSHH~ regulations provide guidance for safe disposal of hazardous waste
  • notifiable deaths such as rubella or food poisoning must be officially reported
  • less serious accidents and incidents must also be recorded

    ~monitor staff and have regular meeting
