  • multidisciplinary team= professionals work together to promote the health and wellbeing of service users
  • importance of a multidisciplinary team:
    ~ provides best outcomes
    ~ prevent unnecessary treatment
    ~ ensure a variety of specialist care
  • holistic approach= approach to care that addresses individuals entire wellbeing/ needs of a whole person
  • partnerships/team working can include informal carers like friends and family's support
  • line management= hierarchal organisation where work is closely monitored by senior members of staff
    ~ address issues with staff concerned and take appropriate action
  • informal carer = unpaid, voluntary role where someone looks after another person who is ill or disabled
  • line manager= person responsible for managing the work of an individual or team in an organisation
  • CQC:
    ~ visit and observe interview staff
    ~ inspect services and support outcomes
    ~ provide a plan if required and publish reports
    ~ follow up on complaints
  • National Institute for Health and Care Excellence:
    ~ improve outcomes for patients
    ~ provide evidence based guidance and advice for practitioners

  • whistleblowing= when a member of staff is aware that the quality of care at their workplace is dangerously poor and reports this to external inspectors to bring change.
  • criminal investigations= police may investigate in extreme circumstances such as cases of physical, sexual, financial or emotional abuse
  • service user feedback= patients and their families are available to formally comment on the strengths or weaknesses of service.
