• Army- (Roman Army was the biggest in the world)
• Boats- ( The used boats to trade and fight)
• Cavalry - (They ride on horses to fight)
• Defend-( they defended the army by protecting them by shields)
• Expand- (Romans expanded their empire)
• Fought- (Romans fought agains to another tribe)
• there are two types of roman soldiers: legionary and auxiliary soldier
• legionary are roman citizens
• legionary was most paid then auxiliary
• only mens were allowed in the army
• legionary have to be tall , fit and over 17 years
• legionary have to be in the army at least 20 years
• auxilliaries are not romans, they come from other places like gaul or germany
• legionary after they retired they received a pension ( a large place of area)some retired soldiers lived together called a colonia
• women couldn't join the army
• auxiliary have to be in the army for at least 25 years
• auxiliaries were paid less than legionaries
• auxiliaries had no pensions when they retire
• auxiliary were doing the dangerous jobs. for example ( when the roman army went to battle , auxiliaries fought in the front lines)
