  • Symptoms can be categorised into:
    • Behavioural- actions that can be seen
    • Cognitive- thoughts
    • Emotional- feelings
  • Phobias- an overwhelming & debilitating fear of an object, place, situation, feeling or animal. An anxiety disorder.
  • Phobias- symptoms: avoidance, shaking (behavioural), irrational beliefs (cognitive), confusion, fear (emotional). Example: claustrophobia- fear of being in trapping & small places.
  • Depression- a low mood that can last a long time or keep returning, affecting your everyday life. A mood disorder.
  • Depression- symptoms: crying, no motivation (behavioural), low mood, negative thoughts (cognitive), anxiety, sadness (emotional).
  • OCD- a mental health condition where a person has obsessive thoughts & compulsive behaviours. An anxiety disorder consisting of persistent unwanted thoughts.
  • OCD- symptoms: compulsive actions (behavioural), intrusive thoughts (cognitive), high levels of anxiety & guilt (emotional).
  • OCD:
    • Obsessions- internal, compulsive thoughts.
    • Compulsions- external, repetitive behaviours.
