• Cultural bias-

  ethnocentrism- belief that the superiority of ones own ethnic/culture group, making their own culture the standard for their experiment, measured to others
• Culture Bias-

  Culture relativism- behaviour’s cant be judged properly unless they’re viewed in the context of the culture it originates.

  Imposed etic- assuming the behaviours universal

  emic- specific to a culture

  culture- beliefs/customs that a group show
• Cultural Bias-

  • most older studies are bias
  • based on WEIRD- limited
  • can lead to prejudice
  • lots of western research is generalised for the world
• Culture Bias-

  CPW- most influential studies are culturally bias- Milgram uses Americans, replications in different country have different results - Smith + Bond

  CPS- increased media usage has weakened the cultural differences- 14/15 studies from the USA compared to Japan found no individualism o collectivism
• Culture Bias-

  S- Cohen 2017- cultural psychology is showing that people shape and are shaped by their cultural experiences

  W- Gould 1981- ethnic stereotyping is shown by IQ testes on WW1 pilots, many were ethnocentric questions. SE Europeans and African-Americans scored the lowest due to their intelligence being important elsewhere, so seen as ’feeble-minded’
