Neurons

• Dendrites - connect to the axon terminals of other neurons
• Nucleus - hold the DNA of the cell
• Axon - responsible for carrying the charge through the cell
• Myelin sheath - protects the axon
• Nodes of Ranvier - speeds up communication through the axon
• Axon terminal - end of the axon which connects to the dendrites of the next neuron
• Sensory neuron - carry nerve impulses from sensory receptors (PNS to CNS)
• Relay neuron - allows sensory and motor neurons to communicate (within the brain and spinal chord)
• Motor neurons - (in)directly control muscles/glands (carry messages from CNS to muscles and glands)
