Biological control

• With biological control, natural enemies from the alien plant's natural habitat are used to destroy it
• Invasive species can also be deliberately infected with pathogenic viruses, bacteria and fungi, which kill the plants or reduce their ability to reproduce
• Biological control is cheaper and much less labour intensive than mechanical control. Unlike chemical control, it does not negatively affect the environment
