Measures for sustainable survival of fynbos

• Invasive alien plants that threaten fynbos must be eradicated
• Controlled fires at the right time (e.g right after winter) are essential for the germination of seed as well as flowering
• Careful planning and control when natural fynbos areas have to be cleared for agriculture and urbanisation may help to reduce the loss of biodiversity
