  New people moving to a place or visiting it can bring their culture with them which can change the characteristics of the place

  eg 20th century, the UK experienced mass international migrations from India and other Commonwealth countries- created multi-ethnic communities in many places, greater mix of languages, religions, foods eaten

  New cultural ideas introduced to places can change the characteristics of those places, eg fast food companies from the USA such as KFC opened restaurants in China in 1980s/90s and have grown rapidly since. perhaps eating habits changed in china as a reuslt of this- favouring western style fast food over chinese food is increasing
