how do you calculate the sign test?
allocate each participant a sign (+ if score improves, - if it decreased and 0 if it stayed the same)
add up the number of +s and -s
take smallest number (least frequent) This is calculated value (S)
calculate number of participants, don’t include scores that stayed same. This is N
compare S to a critical values table, S must be equal to or less than the number in the table to be significant
