the haber process

    Cards (7)

    • the haber process is a reversible reaction of nitrogen and hydrogen to produce ammonia at 200 atp and at 450 degrees using iron as a catalyst
    • nitrogen is from the fractional distillation of air
    • hydrogen is obtained byy reacting methane with steam
    • you collect ammonia by cooling it
    • conditions to increase yeild
      • cooler temperatures will shift the reaction to the right but it will slow down the rate
      • using an iron catalyst ( no effect on equilibrium )
      • increase pressure shifts the reaction to the right but really high temperatures are dangerous and expensive
    • the forward reaction of the haber process is exothermic
    • N2 +N_2\ + 2H3   \ 2H_3\ \ \ 2NH32NH_3
