    • Khrushchev believed that a socialist society should look after the welfare of all, therefore he increased investment in healthcare.
    • Soviet healthcare budget doubled in Khrushchev's first years; increased to 44 billion roubles in 1959.
    • Death rate decreased to 7.3 per 1000 in 1965. Infant mortality decreased to 27 per 1000 births in 1965.
