  • ALAC stands for Apple Lossless Audio Codec. It is Apple's version of the FLAC. It is most commonly used in Apple Products.
  • WAV stands for Waveform Audio Format and was developed by Microsoft. It is compatible with Windows Computer Applications. Because it takes up space, it is a good audio editing file.
  • AIFF stands for Audio Interchange File Format and was developed by Apple. It is used for storing audio in Apple Computers and is Apple's Version of the WAV file type.
  • PCM stands for Pulse Code Manipulation and is used for CDs, Computers, and Applications.
