• working days were only 8 hours long , MUST have paid overtime
• workers could strike without fear of being fired
• salary increase of 16% from 1931-1933
• gov introduced some social welfare benefits in the work place but this was only for maternity and retirement reasons plus insurance claims for accidents
• effects of industrial reform:

  • employers unhappy to pay higher wages
  • unemployed got no benefits , no social security for those out of work
  • middle class feared revolution due to strikes
