Meiosis is a type of cell division used only to produce gametes.
In mitosis, a cell will replicate itself so that it has 2 identical copies of its DNA and 92 individual chromosomes. The cell will then split into two cells, which both have 46 individual chromosones.
A regular cell had 46chromosomes. Gametes have 23 chromosomes.
Meiosis is when a cell duplicates itself so it has 92 chromosomes, then splits into 2 cells with 46 chromosomes. The two cells will then split again, so there are 4 cells with 23 chromosomes each.
There are three steps to mitosis: interphase, mitosis and cytokinesis.
Interphase is when the amount of chromosomes in the cell duplicates.
Mitosis is when the spindle fibres pull 2 copies of the chromosomes apart.
