aerobic respiration is more efficient that anaerobic
most reactions in aerobic respiration happens in the mitochondria
aerobic respiration :
glucose + oxygen ---> carbondioxide + water
C6H12O2 + O2 ---> 6CO2 + 6H20
In anaerobic respiration the incomplete breakdown of glucose makes lactic acid
anaerobic respiration in muscle cells :
glucose ---> lactic acid
aerobic respiration produces more energy because in anaerobic respiration the glucose isnt fully oxidised
anaearobic respiration in plant and yeast cells produce ethanol and carbondiooxide instead of lacticacid
glucose ---> ethanol + carbon dioxide
yeast are single-celled organisms
anaerobic respiration in yeast cells is called fermentation
after anaerobic respiration you will have oxygen debt
oxygen debt is the amount of extra oxygen your body needs to react with the build up of lactic acid
the blood flowing through the muscles transports the lacticacid to the liver to convert it back to glucose. this is another way the body gets rid of the lactic acid
