  • Dramatic poetry is a kind of verse meant to be spoken and acted out.
  • Features of Dramatic Poetry:
    • Has actions and speech that are used to depict action and plot.
    • Focus is on how the speaker is affected emotionally by the plot.
    • It’s recited from the characters POV.
  • Kinds of Dramatic Poetry:
    • Dramatic monologue - combination of drama and poetry, refers to a long speech delivered by a single character.
    • Soliloquy - passage spoken aloud by the character, but can only be heard by themself and not the audience.
    • Character sketch - the playwright encourages the audience to form an opinion of the character delivering their lines.
