BA: B.F Skinner's research Strengths

Cards (3)

  • High internal validity
Internal validity is the measure of the experimenter’s measurement of the dependent variable. So there is high internal validity in Skinner's rat box study, because there is high control, so extraneous variables are controlled, so it is certain only the IV is impacting the DV.
  • Reliability & Replicability
The study was standardised as it was conducted in a laboratory setting, therefore, you can repeat the study to test for the same results therefore, it is very reliable.
  • Application
Operant conditioning explains how we maintain a phobic response. Negative reinforcement encourages us to avoid the stimulus so we feel safe.
