  • Family
    A basic unit of society. A group of individuals living together under the same roof.
    It also refers to two or more person who share resources responsibility values and commitment over time.
  • A typical filipino family
    The father is assumed as the head of the home, provider, and protector. A mother assumes the nurturing role and takes charge of the domestic needs of the family.
  • Family structure
    Considered a family support system which involves two married individuals providing care and stability for their biological offspring.
  • Types of family structures
    Nuclear, extended, single-parent, step, adoptive, homosexual, childless, grandparent, foster
  • Nuclear family
    It is considered the traditional family, a family unit consisting of a mother, father, and children
  • Extended family
    A family that consists of a father, mother, children, along with other relatives living under the same roof
  • Single-parent family

    This can either be a father or mother who is singly responsible for the raising of a child
  • Step family
    This type of family consists of a new husband, wife, or spouse, and their children from a previous marriage or relationship
  • Adoptive family
    This type consists of a one or more of the children that have been adopted
  • Transracial adoptive family

    Refers to a family where the parents adopted a child that has different racial group with them
  • Homosexual family

    This family consists of same sex parents and their children. It can be a two parent family, an adoptive family, a single parent, or extended family
  • Childless family
    This type of family consists of couples who either cannot or choose to not have children
  • Grandparent family
    This family has a grandparent-grandchild relationship in a family and no parent-child relationship.
  • Foster family
    A family where one or more of the children is a temporary member of a household
