Good questions to ask yourself to check the feasibility

Cards (9)

  • Is the subject matter narrow enough? If it’s too wide, you will not come to any solid conclusions.
  • Can you collect all the data you need? What would you actually collect? Do you have the right equipment to do so? It’s very important to collect primary data (first hand data that you have collected yourself) as well as secondary data (information you have got from somebody else)
  • Is there sufficient time to collect all the data in the time given?
  • Is there access to the data collection area? In an urban area, this is not usually an issue but it could be when you come to do the physical fieldwork. Using a map can help highlight these issues.
  • ·Do you need to ask permission to carry out the fieldwork?
  • What clothing do you need to wear? Is it safe to carry out this study?
  • What geographical theory or key concepts are there related to this study?
  • What risks may there be when carrying out the study?
  • in my study there were clear times and places to meet for safety, there were throw lines by the open water and we wore suncream and sunhats as it was hot
