Nature VS Nurture

• Nature is the idea that behaviour is a consequence of hereditary and innate components that make up a person
• Nativists support the idea of nature as they believe all behaviour is caused from our DNA
• Nurture is the idea that characteristics and behaviour

  is learnt from our environment and is developed not innate
• Nurturists believe that we are born ‘tabula rasa‘ meaning we are all born a blank slate
• Interactionist approach is the idea that nature and nurture play a role in behaviour without diminishing the other. As nature creates the brain- however the environment it is in has a large say in how it grows and develops
