What is interspecific competition?
Competition between individuals of different species for one or a few resources
What is intraspecific competition?
Competition between individuals of the same species for all required resources
What type of competition more intense? Why?
Intraspecific - because all resources are competed for
Why does competition occur in ecosystems?
Because resources are in short supply
What do plants compete for?
- Sunlight- Water- Soil nutrients- Space
What do animals compete for?
- Food- Territory- Mates- Shelter
