Localisation vs holistic theory

• Psychologists previously believed that All parts of the brain were involved in processing of thoughts and action. This is known as holism
• Broca and Wernicke argued for localisation of function
• Localisation is the idea that different parts of the brain perform different tasks and are involved with different parts of the body
• If an area of the brain becomes damaged then so does the function that goes along with it
