  • The autonomic nervous system is responsible for regulating involuntary bodily functions, such as heart rate, digestion, and breathing.
  • The role of the sympathetic branch of the autonomic nervous system is to activate the body's fight-or-flight response in times of stress or danger.
  • The role of the peripheral nervous system is to transmit signals between the central nervous system and the rest of the body.
  • The central nervous system functions to process and coordinate information, regulate bodily functions, and control behavior and movement.
