• Research into plasticity - Maguire et al studied brains of London taxi drivers using structural MRI scans and found sig more volume of grey matter in the hippocampus than in a matched control group (non-taxi drivers). This part of the brain is associated with the development of spatial and navigational skills in humans. In taxi job training, drivers have to recall many city streets and possible routes and it appears learning this info has led to changes in the structure of their brains (specifically more neurons in their grey matter|).
