Writing hypothesis

• E Alternate non directional (two tailed) - there will be a significant difference (in the dv) between (IV1 condition) and (IV2 condition)
• E Alternate directional (one tailed) - (IV1 condition) will get better/worse scores (in the dv) than the (IV2 condition)
• E null hypothesis (two tailed) - Any difference (in the dv) between (IV1) and (IV2) will be due to chance
• C Alternate non directional (two tailed) - There will be a significant correlation between (variable 1) and (variable 2)
• C alternate directional (one tailed) - There will be a significant positive/negative correlation between (variable 1) and (variable 2)
• C null hypothesis (two tailed) - Any correlation between (Variable 1) and (variable 2) will be down to chance
• Significant is statistically meaningful (not down to chance)
