measures of dispersion

• measures of dispersion look at how data is spread out
• range - biggest value minus the smallest value

  used when there are no anomalies, as they would skew the data
• standard deviation - takes into account all data

  looks at data away from the average as a graph

• standard deviation - high standard deviation, more spread around the mean
• standard deviation - low standard deviation, data is clustered around the mean
• standard deviation - higher number means more spread out and more deviation
