Density

Cards (2)

  • The irregular object density practical method:
    1. To find the mass, weigh it using a balance, measuring in kg.
    2. To find the volume, you must fill an eureka can up to its spout with water and place an empty measuring cylinder beneath the spout.
    3. Then, gently drop the object into the water, making sure no water is spilt from the top.
    4. Some of the water will be poured into the cylinder through the spout. This is the object's volume. Measure the water in m cubed.
    5. To find the density, divide the mass by its volume.
  • To find a regular object's density, simply weigh it using a balance in kg and then using a ruler measure it's length, width and height and multiply them together. Remember to convert to m cubed. To find it's density divide its mass by its volume.
