• natural events only become natural hazards when the natural event impacts people and/or property
• tectonic hazards involve the movement of tectonic plates and examples include:

• atmospheric hazards involve being in the atmosphere and include:

  • floods
  • hurricanes
  • lightning storms
  • tornadoes
  • extreme snow
• geomorphological hazards occur on the earths surface and include:

  • landslides
  • floods
  • droughts
  • mudflows
• biological hazards are anything involving living organisms and include:

  • wildfires
