  • Minority Influence: Moscovici Research Support
Moscovici's experiment "calling a blue shade green" showed that a consistent majority has greater minority influence than the inconsistent group. The consistent group had conversion of 8.42%, compared to the inconsistent group who had 1.25%. This shows that consistency is essential, however Nemeth argues that there needs to be a balance of consistency and flexibility.
  • Minority Influence: Weakness of Moscovici
Moscovici's study was conducted as a lab experiment, with an artificial task that was not something we would do in everyday life. This means that it lacks real life application. His study was also conducted with an all female population which lacks mundane realism and population validity, meaning that results cannot be generalised. However, as it was a lab experiment there was high control over variables and therefore high reliability.
  • Minority Influence: Strengths of Moscovici
Conducted in a lab experiment with high control over variables and therefore there were no external factors. This means that the experiment can be repeated with the same results.
