C3 - Quantitative Chemistry

    Cards (6)

    • concentration (g/dm3)= mass of solute (g )/volume of solvent (dm3)
    • What is the Avogadro number of particles?

      6.02 x 10^23
    • Number of moles = mass in g (of an element/compound) / Mr (of the element/compound)
    • What is the conservation of mass?

The principle that states that mass cannot be created or destroyed in a chemical reaction.
    • Give an explanation as to why the mass would decrease in a reaction.

If the vessel the reaction is in isn't enclosed, a gas product can escape meaning it's mass isn't counted for.
    • The law of conservation of mass states that no atoms are lost or made during a chemical reaction so the mass of the products equals the mass of the reactants
