Salvation

Cards (13)

  • What is sin?

Any act that separates humans from God
  • What is original sin?

Everyone is built with an urge to do bad things because Adam and Eve had sinned against God
  • What is salvation?

Deliverance from sin and admission to heaven brought about by Jesus
  • What is grace?

A quality of God which God shows to humans by providing love and support that they do not need to earn
  • Christians believe God gave them free will, but it does not mean they can do whatever they want. If people make bad choices, it is considered sinful and will separate them from God.
  • Sin separates humans from God but salvation enables humans to get close to God again.
  • How can salvation come about?
    1. Having faith in God and obeying his law
    2. Through grace (not earned but a gift for the faithful)
  • "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord"
  • Through Jesus' death and resurrection, humans can receive forgiveness and eternal life.
  • Jesus' death makes up for the original sin committed by Adam and Eve. He knew he could use his powers to save himself on the cross, but knew his death was necessary to restore God's relationship with humans and make the opportunity of salvation available to everyone.
  • Jesus rising from the dead is proof that God accepted Jesus' sacrifice as atonement for humanities sins.
  • Salvation is possible because God will now forgive anyone who asks in faith.
  • "He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also the sins of the whole world"
