Baptism

• Christening only happens to babies
• A full body baptism is where a person is fully dipped underwater
• Baptism cleanses human sin with Holy water as a blessing from God
• John the Baptist baptised Jesus in the river Jordan and "The heavens opened and the spirit came down on him like a dove" A voice from heaven said "You are my own dear son. I am pleased with you"
• "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit"
• It is symbolic of being washed away from sin and purified.
• What is believer's baptism?

  Places emphasis on the person making the conscious decision to be baptised. Believed by Baptists and Pentecostals. They use the adult baptism of Jesus to support their belief of that the person needs to be a believer before being baptised.
• What is Christening?


  Infant baptism by Roman Catholic, Orthodox and Anglican. It is a ritual to allow the baby to receive God's blessing and the parents will make promises to raise the baby as Christian.
