Explain the concept of negative feedback within the carbon cycle?
Negative feedback Is where a System counteracts a change to restore dynamic equilibrium
e.g increased co2 levels = increased temps
this also means increased level of co2 uptake Of plants - meaning can photosynthesise more
meaning more CCS can take place within these plants and a state of dynamic equilibrium can be restored
Example of positive feedback in the water cycle?
Temperature rises globally -> ocean temp increases -> dissolved co2 trapped in ice released (increased evap)-> more green house gases in atmosphere -> atmospheric temp rises
Outline the process of sub-aerial weathering in the development of coastal landscapes
Sub-aerial weathering involves the action of rainwater upon the coastal landscape, materials are broken down in-situ, e.g. biological and freeze-thaw weathering, roots growing into cracks - making cracks bigger, water freezes in cracks then breaks - making cracks bigger
This leads to processes such as sliding and slumping - mass movements
