EEG (Electroencephalogram)

Cards (6)

  • Measure electrical activity inside of the brain using electrodes which are attached using a skull cap
  • Records brainwave patterns generated from millions of neurons – this provides and overall account of brain activity
  • Often used by doctors to identify any unusual (arrhythmic) patterns of activity
  • May indicate neurological conditions such as: epilepsy, tumours, or disorders of sleep
  • Electrodes = An electrical conductor which makes contact with a non-metallic conductor
  • Arrhythmic patterns = No particular rhythm
